The Process of Dying
Deaths from illness or accident occur to people of every age and stage of life, even the prenatal. In the elderly, however, studies have been made that point to some characteristics of the process of their dying. When old people die, developments take place that determine whether there is a disintegration of personality or a final, more positive, restructuring. This crisis is framed by three events: social death, psychological death, and, at the very end, biological death.
